A Train is … Not to Fall Over?
After Christmas Day we went to the Davis Food Co-op. And there we saw a big surprise. Because here is what we saw right next to the Co-op. I didn’t know that was allowed.
Because there is some railroad tracks behind the Co-op. And railroad tracks is how a train can go. Tracks tell the train where to go to. And how to get there. But the train doesn’t have to go. It can stay still on the tracks. And not go anywhere.
Like when the trains stopped at the Davis Amtrak Station. When I went there for some socialization. [A Station is to See the Trains.] They stopped at the station to let people get on. Or people could get off the train too. And some people put bikes on. Or some people took bikes off the train.
But the train at the Co-op wasn’t the same as the trains at the station. Because the trains at the station were more longer trains. With lots of cars for people to go in. That kind of train is called a passenger train.
Except the train at the Co-op. That wasn’t a whole train like those passenger trains. Because there wasn’t any cars on it. It was only the front part. That’s called the locomotive.
But when I saw the trains at the Davis Station there was somebody in the locomotive part. And that was the person who made the train stop at the station. I think it was. And then that person made the train go again. When the nice lady blew her whistle and waved to the person in the locomotive. [A Station is to See the Trains.] Because that says OK train you can go now. And then the person in the locomotive makes it go again. Because they know how to do that.
Except in the locomotives at the Davis Food Co-op there wasn’t anybody in there. But I don’t know why. Because it wasn’t moving. And it wasn’t going anywhere on the tracks. It didn’t make any noises. It was just being a locomotive on the tracks. And my Kind Friend could stand on the tracks and take some photographs. Like this one.
Because I saw tracks at the Davis Station before. [A Station is to See the Trains.] And trains too.
A lot of times. Me and my Best Friend and my Kind Friend sit outside the Co-op. There’s tables and chairs there. My Kind Friend reads something and drinks some coffee. And me and my Best Friend just lie down. There’s nice flowers there too. And lots of birds.
The birds make nests there. And they come to eat some pieces of food on the ground. Except my Best Friend always tries to get the pieces first. Even when my Kind Friend put the food there for the birds. Specially for the birds to eat. But he does that with my dinners too. And my treats. But I don’t mind.
One time. When I first came to live with my Kind Friend and my Best Friend. I used to even be very afraid of the tables and chairs by the Co-op. Because they make a lot of noise when you move them. And that reminded me of before I was Samuel. Of bad things that happened to me. And it reminded me of how scared I was at the shelter. Because of all the banging and crashing and loud noises. But now I am not so scared there any more. Because of socialization.
And when you sit outside the Co-op. You can see a train going by on the tracks too. Sometimes you can. Or you can hear it. Except I never saw one doing that. I don’t think I did. I think I only heard it going by.
But then there was another surprise. Because when my Kind Friend stood on the tracks to take a photograph of the locomotive. Then we saw there was two trains! Not just one. But two locomotives. And here they are.
But one time, when there was a train on the tracks by the Davis Food Co-op. That train fell over. And I think it fell off the tracks. You can see a lot of photographs about that at this link.
But it wasn’t a passenger train like the trains I saw at the Davis Station. So no people fell out. It was just a train for things. They’re called freights. So it’s a freights train. Not a passenger train. Except I don’t know if the locomotive fell over. Or if that person in there fell out. But I think some freight fell out of it.
And when that train fell over, it was in the same place as the trains we saw in here. Because it was the same kind of train too. The California Northern Railroad trains.
That makes me a little bit scared. And I am glad that I was not there when that train fell over. Because I would have been very very afraid.
I don’t know if that would be a good socialization for me to do. Because I would be very scared. Of all that banging and crashing. I would be very very afraid of that.
So now I don’t know if we should go and sit outside the Davis Food Co-op. And I don’t know if I should be afraid of trains. Because I don’t want trains to fall over. Or if I shouldn’t be scared.
Because we found another train station. So now I know. There is not just the Davis Amtrak station. There is another station too. It’s called Sacramento Valley Station. And it’s in downtown Sacramento.
There is a lot of trains there. Passenger trains. And freights. And locomotives all by themselves. But I don’t think they fall over. Or fall off the tracks. And buses. And light rails.
Except I will tell all about all those trains and buses and light rail trains another time.
